Friday, October 16: Voice!

Hello music friends! 

Join us this week as we discover our very own and unique musical instrument. We have the power to change the pitch, dynamic and sound. While still working out the final details, we plan to welcome vocalist Bri Whiterow to Music in the Park. Discover the different sounds this instrument of ours can make. We will even be writing our own songs! You think your kids already say the darndest things? Wait until they write their own song!

October 10: Guitar and Mandolin

Hello and thank you to all who joined us for drumming last Friday! It was chilly but we found some sun and kept warm with some dancing.

This Friday we will explore the guitar and mandolin. These are two of my favorite string instruments and I also have both of them in my house! I'm self taught on each and would love to share my knowledge with you this Friday.

Friday, October 3: DRUMS!

Hi everyone! Thanks to all who stopped by last week at the Golden Gallop to participate in and support Music in the Park! It meant a lot to me and I think we may have some new friends joining us Friday.

This week we are bringing the drums back! It's always such a fun and interactive theme. This time I would like the kids to help out and think of something around the house they could bring to Music that would count as a drum or rhythm instrument! If you have drums, shakers, clappers, etc. and don't mind sharing with friends please bring those as well. We will have plenty of drums and instruments to go around either way.

If anyone knows someone willing to bring a trumpet or trombone please let me know! These have also been requested and I know from experience these instruments are wonderful for kids' classes. Sliding the trombone is SO much fun! Similar to the saxophone or clarinet the kids also enjoy pushing the keys on the trumpet to change the sound.

Music in the Park-Friday, September 26!

We're back again! 

 

Join me this Friday for Music in the Park!

Weather depending we will finally get to learn about those woodwind instruments. Once again I plan to bring the clarinet and saxophone along with my guitar! We will sing, dance, shake out rhythms, and get hands on with these awesome woodwind instruments.

Golden Gallop 

The Golden Gallop offers a 5k, 10k, and Kids Fun Run with proceeds going to the Golden Schools Foundation. Music in the Park will have a special feature in Parfet Park running from 8:00-10:00 for those participating! I'm so very excited for this opportunity. There will also be face painting, live music by Gunslinger and a beer garden sponsored by Barrels & Bottles Brewery. Volunteers are still needed, please let me know if you're interested in helping out!

Friday, September 5: Woodwinds!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Join us this Friday in the park for woodwind instruments. We'll learn more about this instrument class with an up close look at the clarinet and saxophone! The kids will have a chance to get hands on with these instruments and learn how we change the pitch. Bring your dancing feet, we'll be singing and shaking to our favorite songs!

August 22: Piano and new class times!

Hello music friends and families!

I would love to continue Music in the Park as long as the weather permits. We are also going to try out some new class times and schedules.

This week we will combine all age groups together but I will offer 
two different time slots:

3:00 pm

We will learn about the piano this week and give the kids a chance to play. Of course we will still play our percussion instruments and sing songs!

Weekly theme to be determined! 

There will be no classes Friday, August 29 or September 19. As long as all ages and the morning and afternoon time slots seem to work out we will continue with those class times.

Inclement weather:

I am working on a way to keep music going indoors throughout the fall and winter. In the meantime, don't hesitate to call me if you are questioning the weather on the day of class.

August 1: A Music in the Park Thank You!

Thank you all so much for making this summer possible! 

Please join us Friday for a special demonstration and small performance from local musicians Warren Kennison and Jackson Earles. Maybe even a few more.

Regular class starts at 10:00 am for all ages with singing, dancing, and playing instruments. Then we will introduce and demonstrate the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and fiddle. The kids will have a chance to get hands on as well.

Our demonstrators will play a small performance for us while we sing and dance along. I'll provide healthy snacks as well.

If you can, please let me know that you are planning to attend. Last minute joiners are welcome too! An approximate headcount will helps me plan accordingly.
